The team at CCG includes a dedicated Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT) division using state of the art equipment of push capacities ranging up to 200kN.
CPT is a highly versatile device for in-situ soil testing. Without disturbing the ground, it provides information about soil type, geotechnical parameters like shear strength, density, elastic modulus, rates of consolidation and environmental properties. Further as it can be seen as a small scale test pile, it can be used as an effective device to inform the design of piled foundations and sheet piles.
CPT testing allows quick and economical collation of large banks of data on soil engineering properties, often on sites where conventional borehole drilling would be impracticable and of limited value, such as estuarine and marine locations.
The system is used worldwide in numerous applications including:
- Foundations options appraisal;
- Foundation Design;
- Pile Design;
- Settlement analyses.
Field operational options include:
- Tracked crawlers;
- 6 wheel drive trucks;
- Mini rigs;
- Mobile rams;
- Excavator mounted rams.
The CPT system may be operated with probes specifically designed for the detection of unexploded ordnance. Discreet samplers may also be deployed. The team provides a comprehensive range of consultancy services covering design of investigations, project management, factual and interpretative reporting.
Acting in consort with the contaminated land team, we are able to provide a co-ordinated geoenvironmental service, covering the full spectrum of geotechnical and environmental issues.
